More Girly than Usual

June 30, 2013

Here's another take on a print on print outfit. This skirt has been a favorite the year  I bought it (yes, I had it for two years already) and it never fails to make me feel more of a girl whenever I wear it. I got this at SM Department Store along with this cute belt and normally just pair it up with a fitted top that is not too busy with prints. But because I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone once in a while, I tried pairing it up with this cute printed blouse I got from Blush. Don't you think they look good together?:)

Printed Blouse - Blush
Balloon Skirt - Shopaholic!
Shoes P945.00 - Payless
Bracelets P50.00 - Keos

I got my cue on matching the color of the skirt with one of the colors on the blouse's print. If you are not that sure, just try looking for a certain match in the colors. I also read somewhere that when you pair up two prints, you just have to make sure that one looks larger than the other so it won't look too clashing. And yes, the belt also had the role of putting a break on the prints. I just need to add up some matching arm accessories and neutral shoes to wrap the entire outfit. Hope you like what I've shared today. Hope everyone's enjoying the weekend. Have a pleasant evening!

Iron Man 3 Ceramic Mug for P199.75 (Toy Kingdom)

June 26, 2013

I was looking for a gift that I would give to my youngest sister when I saw this cute mug at the payment counter. I know coffee is no longer part of my daily routine since June 28 of last year, but I couldn't resist buying one of these! Blame it on the marvel fan in me haha!

Toy Kingdom only have these mugs in two colors: Red and Black. I'm still thinking if I would buy that one. I might have already if it was color Blue. But we'll see. Anyway this will be another addition to my mug collection. I'm one happy girl because of this!

Pleats and Prints

I love skirts. And even if my mother is already telling me to stop buying one, they will always be at the top of my list. I know I have mentioned this before in one of my previous posts and I think most of my impulsive buys are because of them. One of those instances was when I saw this pleated skirt (which is also in animal print) at Forever 21. I normally set my budget per item to be 1000 below so I will feel less guilty when I buy them, but I was not able to resist this one since I really find it pretty and easy to pair with a nice top. I've been able to use it a lot of times so I guess my money was already worth buying this skirt right? :)

 Top P300 (50% off)- Mint
Skirt P1099.00 - Forever 21
Shoes - C Women (Cinderella)
Ring - Forever 21

One of the color combination I feel comfortable wearing is blue and pink. I had this top since 2009 and i still love wearing it every now and then. I got this from Mint when they have their regular 50% discount at their shop, and I bought this along with a yellow one. I also have a blue bandeau skirt, and that is what I normally pair this top with. But upon buying this pleated skirt, I think they work better together. Do you agree with me? *wink*

Is the pair of shoes familiar? Yes, it is one of the shoes I posted here. I immediately put it into use when we found it that weekend. Hope you like the outfit I prepared for today.

Just an additional note, SM Megamall is having a clearance sale on June 28-July 7, 2013. I know it is again tempting to do a shopping spree since it is payday on the 28th.But it's okay to shop as long as you can stick to your budget. Make sure you have already computed all your expenses and just spend with your extra money. Budgeting your money wisely will always be the key. Great day to all!

C Women (Shoes from Cinderella)

June 25, 2013

I was looking for a certain pair of shoes in my cabinet when my mother decided to help me (you know how mothers are good with finding missing things). And then to my suprise, she found these instead: two pairs of pumps from C Women.

When I saw these shoes, I then remembered that I bought them last 2010, when I was still renting an apartment in Buendia. It was during that time when I frequently visit Cinderella at SM Megamall to look for pretty and affordable shoes. I can't recall how much I paid for each of them but I am pretty sure that I bought them on sale (I'm thinking 50% of the original price P898.00/each). There is actually a third pair of C Women shoes, but I didn't include it in this post since it is not a pair of pumps (peep toe heels). I'll share a photo of that shoes in another post. For now, I'll make sure to maximize these shoes by incorporating them in my office attires. I'm now excited for July then! Happy Tuesday to all!

Palazzo Day

June 24, 2013

This is the first palazzo pants I ever owned, which I bought from SM Department Store (Shopaholic! brand). I wear this in the office once in a while (normally when there is a client visit). But for today, I'd like to share with you how I wore it the night I watched Phantom of the Opera last October.

Printed top P420.00 (discounted) - Petit Monde (SM Dept. Store)
Palazzo pants P699.75 - Shopaholic! (SM Dept. Store)
Shoes P945.00 - Payless Shoe Source (Comfort Plus)
Bracelet P80.00 - St. Francis

Phantom of the Opera was my first Broadway experience. And since I did not want to be under dressed that night, I thought of using this palazzo pants with this top from Petit Monde. Actually, this top can pass as a dress due to it's length. But I felt that the necklace detail of the top would work well with this black pants so I wore it this way. I used a different pair of shoes that night, but for this outfit post, I thought of using my this pumps from Payless to match the white part of my blouse.

I had very fun and memorable nights (I went there twice, the second time was just to meet the entire cast) during the Phantom of the Opera craze in Manila. So when I heard about another broadway musical coming this July, which is Dirty Dancing Musical, I immediately bought a ticket last April. Too bad that the show got cancelled (I just requested for a refund of my ticket, feeling really sad that day). Anyway, hopefully another broadway show will visit Manila. We were hearing rumors of Wicked for 2014. I'm hoping it will push through. Good day to all!

Aspiring Wedding Singer

June 22, 2013

It was December of 2010 when a good friend of mine, Christine tied the knot with her long time boyfriend Nat. I was really happy when she sent me an invite to her wedding, plus the fact that she and Nat requested me to sing at the reception! I feel flattered since this was my second time to be given a chance to serenade  friends on their wedding.

I decided to wear this dress on the day of their wedding. I bought this at Cinderella- Megamall Branch and I was happy that the style and fit of the dress suits me. It was comfortable to wear the entire day and the design gave me that feeling that it was appropriate for that moment when I get up on stage to sing. And since were to attend the wedding ceremony first, I brought with me this brown cover up I got from SM Surplus (P250.00) to make my dress suitable for church.

I've been a fan of Gibi shoes ever since and this is one of those pair that I overused already. If you are familiar with SM Carriedo, that was the outlet that I always visit to get pretty pairs of Gibi sandals with great discount (I even bought a pair of stilleto there for P300.00). It has the right height for the heels and easy to slip on and pair with anything given the neutral color.

As requested by the couple, I sang "How Did You Know" by Chiqui Pineda that night. I admit that I was super nervous that night that I felt that my voice was not coming out of my mouth properly (one of those moments that you feel you could have done better), but I was happy that they were okay with the song. I was even surprised when Christine texted me that someone said that I have a beautiful voice (Wow! Thank you so much friend of Christine *smile* ).  I was with our other friends so all in all that special day ended up with lots of memories and fun times.

We were dropped by our friend at SM North Edsa and we saw this beautiful setup at the activity center. And since we were still dressed up, we couldn't resist the idea of having our pictures taken while sitting on this beautiful sofa.

It's almost three years and I know that the couple are still having an awesome married life. I hope I see them soon if ever our schedule permit a meetup. But for now, I'll continue to wish both of them a happy and blessed life as couple. And maybe a baby soon? Haha! Thanks again Christine and Nat!

Liebster Award

June 19, 2013

I've been seeing this logo from some of the blogs I am following and wondering what this all about. I got to read some of their posts and turned out that it is some sort of chain post wherein the goal is to help other bloggers with less than 200 followers gain more readers. Touch of Gray

Philippines

Whenever I think of a title for a certain outfit post, I normally search it in Google first to see what things are associated with it out of curiosity. And for today's title, it is good to know that there is a certain "Touch of Gray" band who plays in New Jersey. and that a product for men called "Touch of Gray" exists to manage gray hair. I know this is so random but it is good to know new things every now and then right?:)

printed mullet dress P400+ - Shopaholic
gray wedge P1650.00 - Payless (Brash)
bracelets P50 each - Keos

Anyway, let's move on to my outfit. I wore this dress last August 25 when I attended Richard Poon's mall show at Robinson's Magnolia. I was into mullet skirts that quarter and when I saw this in one of the racks at SM Department Store, I knew that I have to own one. Having it in this unique print was also a plus for me.

Since I wanted to highlight the print of the dress, I decided to use my gray wedge from Payless and just went matchy-matchy with the bracelets. Note that on the day of the event, I did not use this particular pair of shoes (I only commute when I go to events). I used one of my Solemate flats instead (still the gray one of course).

This was my picture with Richard Poon during that event. It was a memorable day since it was also my birthday week and he gave a good message for my birthday. He is really a good guy and very friendly to his supporters. I hope to see him again in one of his shows. For now, I just wish him a happy and blessed married life with Maricar :)

Belle de Jour Power Planner 2013

June 17, 2013 Philippines

I've been one of those ladies who still prefer scribbling notes on an actual planner/organizer in spite of all the applications that are available now in our beloved smartphones and gadgets. I started using pocket calendar organizer when I was in high school to remind me of the activities/events that I need to attend during those time. Then when I got into college, we were given this super useful planner that I was able to maximize the entire year. And that was the start of making planners an important part my life.

The Budget Fashion Seeker - Belle de Jour Power Planner 2013 1

Currently, I am using Belle de Jour Power Planner. This is after using some other planners available in the market (and that includes Starbucks). I guess since I was able to make the most out of my Belle de Jour Planner last year (that was my first one by the way), I think I might stick to this one for a while. I really love that it is indeed a "power planner", having all these empowering quotes on every page as well as some articles that aim to inspire the one using it.

The Budget Fashion Seeker - Belle de Jour Power Planner 2013 2

This is how the per day boxes look. For a person who does not write legibly without the lines, this design needs some getting used to. But eventually you'll get the hang of it and enjoy the fact that you can just write freely anywhere! The time guide doesn't even matter to me anymore. I just make the most out of the space provided.

You might be familiar with their travel planner version of Belle de Jour but I am happy that they've decided to include something like this inside. I use this space for my major travels just so I can keep track of the important details of the trip.

I'm pretty sure this section will be mostly appreciated by breadwinners like me, who regularly keeps track of their budget for the month. I've tried downloading some free applications that I can also use for this matte  but I still love writing my finances here.

And last but not the least, the thing that I love with this planner is this portion: the discount coupons! Every month they have this special page for coupons specially catered to fashionistas and foodies out there. I remember that last year I was able to use up all the coupons for SM Girls Teens' Wear as well as the Parisian coupons too! They only give P100.00 off or 10% discounts, but if you are really a frequent buyer, then that is a good deal already.

I forgot the exact price of this planner, but I remember that it P600+. If only I was able to go to their event last year wherein they had a pre-selling of this 2013 planner. I would have bought this on a lower price. Hope next year they will have the same event again so I can avail of the discount.

After all that I've written above, you think you would end up availing this next year? What do you think would make you switch to Belle de Jour? Feel free to use the comment section for your thoughts. Have a nice day!

Red, White and Blue

Philippines

"Red, white.. and blue; the stars over you
Mama said, papa said, I love you "

I keep on humming that nursery rhyme we used for our jump rope games  whenever I read the title of this post. Are you familiar with that one? I read somewhere that it was a rhyme that was created for our Philippine flag. And yes, I think this outfit post might have been appropriate for last week haha!

Printed Top P150.00  - South Station
Pencil Skirt P449.75 - Redhead (SM Dept. Store)
Black Wedge P1650.00 - Payless (Brash)
Bracelet P150.00 - Libis Bazaar
Ring P129.00 - Penshoppe

I was on my way to Nuvali for our wake boarding session when I saw this top. It was one of those shops inside South Station and I notice the unique print on this shirt. And when I was told that the top is only P150.00, I didn't even bother fitting it and bought it right away. They actually paired this top with a plain red skater skirt.  And since I remembered that I just recently purchased a red pencil skirt,I knew that they can work together, too.

This is an ensemble that you can just wear when you just want to go to the mall (minus the wedge to avoid leg pain while doing your regular rounds for your favorite shops), or you can add the right blazer for it to pass as an office attire. I can still think of other ways to style the top with what I currently have in my cabinet, but let's save them for other posts. Most of the time, you just have to find a certain item that can work with the things that you already have. Mix and match will always be the best friend of budget shoppers. Having this top in three colors is already an advantage on that area, and you'll see why when I share with you another outfit post using this top. Great day everyone!
