My First Wakeboarding Experience (Camsur Watersports Complex)

First of all happy weekend everyone! By this time, my friends and I are already on our way to La Union for our surfing trip. Yes! Finally, after all these years of being hesitant to try this water sport (I heard a lot of accidents that happen for first timers), I mustered all my courage to join my friends this time.

It was actually Nick Vujicic who was able to convince me to try this. He is a motivational speaker and a writer who is known as "The Man With No Limbs", and I hope you are familiar with him because he is really an amazing person. He's living a life that will inspire you and make you feel that everything is possible. I'll write a separate post about Nick's visit here in Manila so I can share with you his inspiring words and stories.

And since I am away this weekend to surf, I decided to schedule a post about something related to it that I tried last year: wakeboarding. During those time, I've been trying to schedule a trip to Naga so I can have a tour of the city (I've been to Legazpi thrice so I'm really curious with Naga) and then go to Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC) and try this activity. However, planning a solo trip always end up with me being lazy to plan things. So imagine how happy I was when I received an invitation to attend the wedding of my friends (who are also my officemates). And you guessed it right. The venue of their wedding was Naga! And I knew that it was meant to be since we were even able to book one of the villas inside the complex. Luck was really on my side!

Below are the photos that I took from CWC:

When you arrive at the complex, you won't be able to help but watch the people who are in the professional area. There were those that are really good and those that were still trying to learn, but were no longer satisfied with the beginners' cable. And upon seeing them, I got excited and scared at the same time because I knew that if I learn it fast, I'll feel this sense of achievement. But if I do something wrong, I might end up hurting myself. I was also conscious thinking that people would laugh at me if I had a bad fall haha! Anyway, all those thoughts disappeared when I was already sitting in the "dock", waiting for the cable to pull me.

That was my face after one hour of wakeboarding. I was that happy because after my third try, I successfully crossed to the other side! I think I did it up to 3 times and below was my only picture (I know it is super blurred) while on my board. Mission accomplished for Sally!

I was that satisfied with my experience that I knew I had to try this sport again. And thankfully, a good friend of mine agreed to accompany me to Nuvali Wake Park, which is also a property of the family who owned CWC. Both places have the same amenities (swimming pool and restaurant), but the good thing about Nuvali Wake Park is it is only few hours away from Manila. Very accessible to those who want to immerse themselves with wakeboarding. And I will definitely go back there now that I've confirmed that I can properly do it last June. I hope I can still manage to stand on my board when I decide to try the professional area.

I now leave you with this "I Love Camsur" photo that I took outside Islands Souvenirs shop that we saw outside CWC. They sell shirts with these slogans and you can even ask them to include your name on the shirt. I bought a hot pink one for P550.00 but I don't have a photo of it as of the moment. I'll try to upload it next time then so you can see the actual shirt.

So, has anyone of you tried any sport for the first time? How was your experience then? I'd love to hear your stories so feel free to comment below. Have a great day!
