Stay Stylish and Comfortable in the Rain with Crocs

December 1, 2014

We are on the last month of 2014 but as always, typhoons are still coming in and out of our country (I think the latest typhoon starts with R already). We have no choice but to bring our umbrellas and be more picky with the shoes/sandals that we buy, which can somehow be considered rain gear. Good thing brands like Crocs exist since they aim to make these type of products while making them as fashionable as possible. They may not be as budget-friendly in terms of price tags but given the quality, you may still want to consider buying one. Browse the photos below to see some of their fashionable items!

Stay Stylish and Comfortable in the Rain with Crocs

Staying chic and fabulous during the rainy season can be a challenge, but not impossible to overcome. Dressing up doesn’t have to be a drag on dark days; in fact, with just a few tips and tricks, you can still strut your stuff and look marvelous even on the gloomiest days.

Brighten it up[1]. Your outfits, by no means, should match the gloomy weather outside. Invest in pieces that perk up any dark day and you will instantly feel confident and fabulous. Wearing something bright also makes everyone around you perk up as well.

Keep a stylish umbrella with you always[2]. Gone are the days when carrying around an umbrella felt like fashion suicide. Today, with so many cute designs to choose from, umbrellas can actually be a great complement to your outfit.

Layer it. It’s no secret that the weather can quickly change at this time of the year and layering your clothes make for maximum versatility. A stylish scarf can keep you warm and can even protect you from a sudden downpour. Wearing tights is also a good idea, especially if you’re wearing a dress, and can easily be removed if the weather gets too hot. Investing in a good coat that is both stylish and weather resistant is also a good idea; it’s best to avoid leather and suede when looking for a coat.

Invest in good footwear. Choose shoes that can withstand the rain: one that is durable and can be worn even during floods. Don’t let the rain dampen your shoe game and choose from the many designs by the world’s favorite comfort shoe brand, Crocs.

Its recent line proves that it is possible to have a fusion of style and comfort. The release of two designs, the Beach Line Clog and the Beach Line Boat Slip On from the much-loved Beach Line Collection are reminiscent of summer, and are just in time for the rainy weather. Meanwhile, the new color releases of the immensely popular Huaraches for women and girls will surely add a pop of color to any outfit.

Crocs not only protects you from the rain and the flood but also keeps you looking fabulous, whatever the weather.

Announcement: 9 out of 10 Filipinos Plagued with Cavities

9 out of 10 Filipinos Plagued With Cavities
Lack of knowledge a primary cause

Filipinos, regardless of age or socio-economic status, have all suffered from a cavity[1]. Figures released by the Department of Health revealed that nine out of ten Filipinos suffer from cavities or tooth decay.[2] Your child could be one of them.

Tooth decay or cavities is the top chronic health concern for children all over the world[3], which, when left untreated, can compromise a child’s eating and sleeping habits, as well as affect their self-confidence. A child suffering from severe cavities may experience difficulty in concentrating on school work, speaking, and even sleeping. Gerlie, a mother of two, shares, “I wasn’t aware that my child was suffering from cavities until one day he cried because of his very painful toothache. He couldn’t move and wasn’t able to do much else until the pain  went away. He didn’t even have the appetite to eat or the energy to go to school.”  These result in increasingly escalating detrimental effects on health, school and work performance, and even self-esteem[4]. Aside from compromising a child’s eating habits, severe decay in baby teeth can have serious consequences for a child’s speech and jaw development.[5]

A primary factor in the prevalence of  cavities among Filipinos is a general lack of knowledge on dental health. Since  oral health problems such as cavities are often overlooked, cavities are left untreated until they become emergency medical situations. In addition, unlike other more common  health problems, the definition, symptoms, causes, and effects of cavities are not as commonly understood.

Cavities are commonly viewed by Filipinos as holes in teeth caused by consuming too much sweets. However, according to  Dr. Corazon S. Flores, President of the Philippine Dental Association, “Visible holes on the surface of the teeth indicate that the  problem has progressed beyond the tooth surface. In fact, dental caries or tooth decay begins with invisible acid erosion of the tooth enamel, caused by accumulated food substances left on the teeth. Left unchecked, the tooth area becomes increasingly damaged, progressing from the surface, all the way into the root.”

Cavities have become a fact of life among Filipinos  when it really should not be as it is easily preventable, especially with the number of oral care products that are readily available. DepEd has continuously put their efforts to raise awareness on proper oral care in public school children by including it in the curriculum. This way, at an early age they are already made aware of how to easy it is to take care of their teeth.

It is also important to note that proper oral health care starts at home, continues  Dr. Flores, “Being proactive at home is the first step. Filipinos can prevent this by brushing and flossing at least twice a day and regularly visiting the dentist at least twice a year. Parents need to set a good example by instilling good oral care habits in their family, especially their children, so that cavities can finally become a thing of the past.”

Something to be Thankful for (Colgate Total Charcoal Package)

November 30, 2014

I wanted to start the first day of December with a good news: I received my first ever package from a sponsor! This might be way too late already since it arrived last September when I was still out of the country. But in any case, posting about something you are thankful for is never too late right? Besides, we can just count it as something I am thankful for the coming holiday season or late Thanksgiving post to those residing in the countries with such occasion.

I was actually contacted by PERKCOMM two months ago that one of their clients wanted to send me a gift. I gave them the address and it was my friend who received this package for me and I was really excited when she told me that it was as big as a shoe box. I didn't know at first what were the contents or even what brand it was so I told my friend to open it for me. She said it was from Colgate and sent me a photo of it. It indeed looked like a shoe box, a normal one given the picture below. So I was really surprised at how the packaging was designed given the contents inside. It was really creative!

I really felt giddy to see my name at the side of the box. And the fact that it came from Colgate, a brand that our family have been using since I was a kid made it more meaningful. The entire package is actual the Total Charcoal line consisting of two slim soft Charcoal toothbrushes, two boxes of Charcoal toothpastes (150grams), one black toiletry bag and a flash disk containing more information about this line.I have been using their soft bristles toothbrush (regular, trio pack) since way back so I am looking forward to use this one to see the difference. Along with that brush, I am almost half of their Acid Sugar Neutralizer toothpaste, which is also used by my family at home.

I will share with you some useful information that they forwarded me so you can gain more knowledge about cavities and other ways to protect our teeth. So to PERKCOMM and Colgate, thank you again for this awesome gift!

So has anyone of you ever tried #ColgateTotalCharcoal? I am curious to know your reviews so please do not hesitate to comment below. Happy Monday!

The Budget Fashion Seeker is Back!

Liberty Island, United States

Hi everyone! I know I have been gone for a long time (almost six months?!) but finally, I was able to make myself write a post (a teaser one actually) just so I can revive and be on track again with my blog. I miss writing and sharing my budget-friendly outfit posts to all of you! A lot of things happened since July and hopefully I will be able to get to share the things that happened to me for the past months. For now I just want to share this one pic I had in the US (hello Liberty!). I am still organizing all the photos that I have accumulated since then but I will definitely post them soon.

So to all of you who constantly visit my blog even if there were no activity here, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope I can arrange something again for the coming holiday season. Have a nice Sunday evening!

Opening of Suiteblanco at SM Mall of Asia (May 15, 2014)

June 8, 2014

Almost a month ago, I had the privilege to be there at the opening day of a spanish clothing line in the Philippines, Suiteblanco at the Mall of Asia. It was all thanks to Fatima Rabago, spanish model/make up artist (who is the pretty wife of Hideo Muraoka by the way) who hosted a contest regarding the store. Luckily, I was chosen as her winner for the contest so that day, I get to shop items from Suiteblanco for free! I was there checking the stores along with the other winners when one by one the ambassadors (mainly models in the industry) came to shop as well. I got gorgeous items from my gift certificates, which was worth Php3000.00 and the bonus was the total price was also included for their 20% discount. So my shopping budget went up to Php3600! You will see the items that I bought as you get to the end of the post but for now, I'll give you a glimpse of what their shop offer.

This is how the store looks from the outside. Since it was opening day, there were a lot of people that went to the store to shop. My attention immediately caught this display given the lovely dress. I love how they styled it with the available heeled sandals. They even have a native looking bag that I really adore. Did I buy the dress? Check scroll up to the end for you to find out *wink*.

Suiteblanco staff even prepared these treats for shoppers. Those candies were really cute in the counter that I ended up getting some myself.

You were probably thinking that I ended up hoarding some of these lovelies. Unfortunately, I am really not into hi-cut bikinis so I was really sad to see the price and not able to buy at least a pair.

They also have pretty shoes/sandals in their collection. Personally, I like the two pairs placed in the third row.

The staff gave me my GCs even if Fatima was not yet in the shop. So I was able to do my shopping ahead of her. It was still fun since when she arrived, we were able to chat for a while, gave me a little background of the shop (since she was from Spain) and let me do my shopping. We had a short chat again after I was done. She was really nice and it was actually my second time to see her in person.

These are some of the photos of their Accessories Section. I think the price range of these are roughly the same with Forever 21.

They have lots of clothes that are fit for office work that if I did not control myself, I might bought something aside from the amount that I could splurge that day.

Here's a photo of me and Fatima. She is really tall and pretty. I wish she would do a makeup workshop one day. I'll be happy to attend that if ever.

And here are the items that I bought from Suiteblanco! I didn't find my plain blanket so please bear with the printed bedsheet haha!

black sling bag/pouch - Php1199.00

set of earrings - Php349.00

headband - Php279.00

socks - Php149.00

floral dress - Php1699.00
Among the items that I got from Suiteblanco, I think this one is something that I am willing to purchase from my own pocket given the style and the quality of the dress. I'm still thinking when to wear this one though. Two planned trips are still coming up so hopefully I get to take photos wearing it and share with you my idea of styling it. Anyway I hope all of you had a very relaxing weekend. one more week and we all get to celebrate another occasion. Can't wait for Father's Day! Happy Monday to everyone!

Back to School!

June 2, 2014

Hello everyone! Most of the kids/students already started school (my sisters classes started yesterday) and I hope that  your young ones in the family are already good with their school things. We did our shopping early but there are still a lot of sales and promos in the mall so if you are not done with yours, then you might still get good deals.

I know it's been years since I had that feeling of getting excited due to start of classes but somehow, buying this black sling bag from Penshoppe last Friday made me look forward to Monday. It felt like I'm going to work with a new bag, which brought back feelings of being a student again. I am not really fond of big bags so I was happy with the size. It's enough to house all the things that I carry in the office. It can even fit those small multi-fold umbrellas that are now appearing again in different stores. It's original price is Php649.00 but I got it for Php519.00 because of the sale. Still within my budget so I'm happy.

It's weird that because of this purchase, I suddenly miss school and student life. If only I have enough money, I would have pursued another course or even a Masters degree. But maybe one day, when all my responsibilities at home are done, then I can do that eventually. Wish me luck guys? Have a great day!
